Midnight – No Mercy For Mayhem

Hells Headbangers – out 19th August 2014

8/10 – Review by Susanne Sinmara

Oh yeah. There has been much anticipation for this album – will Midnight manage to keep the momentum they reached with Satanic Royalty in 2011? Their punky black’n’roll – a gutsy mix of punk and metal, with a dash of black metal’s nastyness added – has certainly made an impact.

On top of that their chaotic gigs (there’s this amazingly funny video on youtube where the drummer got so drunk he started drumming with his hands after losing his sticks, and chaos ensued thereafter…), amateurish album covers and funny song titles, and they have managed to get quite a cult following going since then.

No Mercy For Mayhem follows on neatly from the last album – it’s good old rock’n’roll, dirty, nasty, but fun. No revelation, just a good party album that simply rocks. Expect to hear a few of these down your local metal pub – Woman Of Flame, Evil Like A Knife, Try Suicide – some of these have been clearly influenced by Venom. Not a bad thing, if you ask me.
