Neige Et Noirceur – “Gouffre Onirique et Abîmes Cosmiques”
Canadian Ambient Black/Drone Doom Metal
Sepulchral Productions – 28/03/2014
Neige Et Noirceur are becoming regulars on the Destructive Music site and this year’s offering will take pride of place if their recordings from recent years are anything to go by. As mentioned in my last review, this is a Canadian one man project that combines ambient black metal with drone doom so as you can imagine, darkness very much the order of the day! “Gouffre Onirique et Abîmes Cosmiques” is Zifond’s fourth studio album and Sepulchral Productions have the honour of putting it out there!
On the back of their rather successful first album, Sepulchral Ruins Below The Temple, occult Death Metal act Sheol/שְׁאוֹל made their first live appearance at the Unicorn in London last night.
The Lustmord – “Trapped in Purgatory”
5 out of 10
From the city of Phoenix comes black/death metal quartet The Lustmord whose new EP “Trapped in Purgatory” is the bands first release since 2011’s single “Zombie Disease”. Having not released a full album since 2008’s “After Death”, this EP could be the prelude to larger things and things get under way with title track “Trapped in Purgatory”, a track which sees the band open in a hugely disappointing manner.
Rauhnåcht – Urzeitgeist
I’ve come across this Austrian one-man band a few years ago and was instantly hooked on their versions of fellow Austrian’s Sturmpercht songs on their 2010 album, Vorweltschweigen. 4 years on, and Stefan Traunmüller – the man behind Rauhnåcht, also known from Wallachia, Golden Dawn and Sternenstaub – releases another album: Urzeitgeist. Musically this will please everyone into Falkenbach, Abigor, Amestigon, Wolves In The Throneroom, although Urzeitgeist definitely has its own unique style.
Wardruna’s mesmerizing first release Runaljod – gap var Ginnunga will finally be released on vinyl via Indie Recordings! Music from this album is used as soundtrack to both seasons in the successful History Channel TV-series ”Vikings”.
