I recently reviewed Solstice Hivernal, the 2012 EP from Canadian ambient black/drone doom one man project Neige et Noirceur. This year sees the release of his new album through Sepulchral Productions entitled Gouffre Onirique et Abîmes Cosmiques.

Sinister vibes, oppressive darkness and cold tones, these are the things that greet you as Gouffre Onirique et Abîmes Cosmiques sets off on its slow, methodical journey! Painting a bleak landscape right from the off, this depressive opus feels like its wading through a dense fog of negativity and raw emotions just to be heard!

Gouffre Onirique et Abîmes Cosmiques has more to offer than just slow, plodding black metal though so don’t be surprised when a ravenous blast beat driven frenzy greets your ears and with an insanely sinister atmospheric undertone!

Once again Neige et Noirceur has delivered a quality release and proved that one lone black metal warrior can create something truly devastating!
