THE CASKET CREW | COERCION [US THRASH/DOOM] REVIEW BY LUKE HAYHURST

Coercion_Cover

I love the artwork for Coercion, the new album from US thrash doomsters The Casket Crew!

Things begin with the album title track Coercion which is a sporadic bout of raw thrashing riffs, grim guttural vocals and the drumming and bass display to keep things moving quickly. At times there is a chaotic feel to the bands play and at others simply a driven, direct melody of rough, straight to your face thrash!

Yet as things progress the band incorporate slower grooves, more melodic harmonies and an intensity that sometimes only the more slowed down tracks can truly create.

I’d say the doom element to this album is slight, but it is certainly present. the more bass laden tones, the groove fused melodies and the heavier, thicker sound can only come from a doom influence and straight up thrash The Casket Crew are not!

An enjoyable album with more depths and layers than you might have thought, highly recommended!
