BOTTOMFEEDER | TWO MINUTE HATE [US BLACK/SLUDGE/CRUST] REVIEW BY LUKE HAYHURST

US Black/Sludge/Crust band Bottomfeeder have named their debut album after the “Two Minute Hate” in George Orwell’s “1984”.

Opening with the ear splitting intro to “Cauldron”, Bottomfeeder are flat out abrasive on your senses but soon hit home with massive, bass fueled crushing vibes, monolithic intensity and a slow, grim blackened atmosphere! Soon desperate, nerve shredding vocals enter into the mix and the bands savage gritty style is well and truly complete!

I love the name of this album, I love where it has been taken from and musically I feel that Bottomfeeder are the closest possible resemblance, the epitome even of Orwell’s “Two Minute Hate”.

Mixing elements of sludge, crust, blackened metal and even some brief glimpses of drone doom, this album is a smorgasbord of styles, influences and sounds, all of them designed to test your nerve, your senses and your willingness and ability to endure!

Put simply Bottomfeeder is a test, an endurance test of colossal sound, an aural battering of the highest order and a seriously quality record!
