EMPTYS | DESTROYED HOLY SHINE [INDONESIAN BLACK METAL] REVIEW BY LUKE HAYHURST

180765

Released through Ludah Productions is the 2007 demo from Indonesian black metal band Emptys entitled “Destroyed Holy Shine”.

Kicking things off is the raw underground feel of blazing ravenous black metal. Abrasive shrieks, savage riffs and a drumming style that whilst not always the tightest is still fairly destructive. Emptys have a cold undertone about them that I like. Things grind along at a steady pace and the constant symbol crashes add to the uproar and the sheer cacophony which this band create.

If I’m honest the production needs a lot of work. There are gaps between the songs that are longer than normal and the overall sound is a little grim and tinny but I suppose that all adds to the effect!

If blistering, volatile and dangerous black metal is your things then Indonesia seems to be one of the places to look into and although far from the finished article this is a savage example of the art from another far away place.
