LUCID DREAMS | LUCID DREAMS [NORWEGIAN HEAVY METAL] REVIEW BY LUKE HAYHURST

393161

Hailing from the Norwegian capital of Oslo comes a brand new heavy metal sensation in the form of Lucid Dreams and their self titled debut album.

Opening with an introduction track, a soaring symphonic start is then met by the strong drum beats and fast heavy metal licks of “Cassie’s Escape” that flows sublimely and uses a rough yet clear vocal style, not too high pitched like some of the bands contemporaries and also with the symphonic element remaining on as the bands melodic undertone, a nice clash of heavy and calm! Piercing piano tones occasionally sound out, loud and proud above the  rest of the music and the overall effect is of a band who love the old school ways of doing things and with a hint of a power metal aesthetic about their harmonies and intro’s, “For Your Love” being a prime example.

It can be a little cliched and cheesy in places but then so can most heavy metal. The important things are all on offer though, strong powerful tunes, a good sense of song craft and a promising creative force. Well worth a listen!
