DEATH/DOOM METAL | NEW YORK/ USA
RELEASED VIA WEIRD TRUTH PRODUCTIONS ON 20.05.2012
US Death Doomsters CEREMONIUM may now be sadly defunct due to Brandon Diaz’s unfortunate battle against cancer, but their music will forever live on as Weird Truth Productions have released a compilation album spread over two discs of all the bands best works , twenty one songs to be exact of the very best from the career of Ceremonium that spanned over a decade. Sadly Brandon passed away in 2004 but everything he stood for, his talent and what he believed in is right here in “Dreams We Have Written”.
Opening with the haunting pangs of “Nightfall in Heaven” from the bands debut album “Into The Autumn Shade”, Ceremonium then delve deep into the murky waters for a solid piece of savage Death/Doomery in “Serenity” from the same album. Indeed the first disc covers the whole of this debut album plus sophomore release “No Longer Silent” in their entirety and with excellent clarity and heaviness. Ceremonium were a band who really did not mess around when it came to creating a sledge-hammer like impact of solid Death Doom Metal, a grim slab of depravity and nightmarish visions! It wasn’t always pretty but it damn sure hit home hard!
On to disco two and we have another nine punishing grueling tracks of what I must assume is a collection of demo and unreleased material. With more deeply emotional offerings wrapped inside a shroud, a web of big riffs, hard hitting drumming and a seriously aggressive vocal style, there could be no more a fitting tribute to Diaz’s (R.I.P) memory than this collection of the bands work, grim, aggressive and direct from the depths of darkness! [7/10 – LUKE HAYHURST]
